SHOULDER PAIN TREATMENT

Staten Island Rotator Cuff & Shoulder Rehab
The shoulder trades stability for mobility, which makes it vulnerable to overuse, poor mechanics and sudden injury. Throwing athletes, lifters, swimmers and anyone who works overhead are especially prone to rotator cuff irritation, impingement and stiffness.

At SICSR, Dr. Robert Minlionica, DC, ATC evaluates the whole chain, from the shoulder blade and thoracic spine to the rotator cuff, and builds a plan that restores pain-free motion and strength.

HOW WE TREAT SHOULDER PAIN

SHOULDER CONDITIONS WE SEE

  • Rotator cuff strains and tendinopathy
  • Shoulder impingement and bursitis
  • Biceps tendon pain
  • Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) stiffness
  • AC joint sprains from contact sports and falls
  • Post-surgical rehabilitation after rotator cuff or labral repair, in coordination with your surgeon

WHAT TO EXPECT

Your first visit includes a movement assessment of the shoulder, shoulder blade and upper back, strength testing of the rotator cuff and a review of the sport or work demands that matter to you. Treatment starts right away and progresses toward loading the shoulder for throwing, pressing or lifting without pain.

SHOULDER PAIN FAQ

Do I need an MRI for shoulder pain?

Most shoulder pain can be assessed clinically first. Imaging is recommended when the examination suggests a significant tear, after major trauma or when symptoms are not responding as expected.

Can I keep lifting or throwing?

Usually with modifications. We identify which movements aggravate the shoulder and adjust volume and technique so you can keep training while the tissue recovers.

How long does shoulder rehab take?

Mild irritation may settle in a few weeks. Tendinopathy and post-surgical cases take longer and follow a structured progression we lay out at your first visit.

Do you treat baseball and football players?

Yes. See our baseball injury rehabilitation and football injury recovery pages.
