ACHILLES TENDON INJURY REHABILITATION

Staten Island Tendon Reset, Reload & Return
The Achilles is the strongest tendon in the body, but it is also one of the most commonly injured in runners, basketball, soccer and lacrosse players and weekend athletes. Pain and stiffness at the back of the heel, especially in the morning or at the start of a run, are the usual first signs of Achilles tendinopathy.

At SICSR we rebuild tendons the right way. Our Tendon Reset + Reload approach combines shockwave therapy, Class IV laser and progressive, evidence-based loading to restore true tendon capacity.

HOW WE TREAT ACHILLES INJURIES

OUR 3-PHASE TENDON MODEL

  • Reset – Calm irritation and prepare the tendon for load
  • Reload – Reintroduce controlled, progressive strengthening
  • Return – Build resilience so you are stronger than before

ACHILLES FAQ

Should I rest my Achilles completely?

Complete rest tends to weaken a tendon further. Most Achilles tendinopathy responds best to modified activity plus a structured loading program.

How long does Achilles tendinopathy take to heal?

Tendons adapt slowly. Meaningful improvement often takes several weeks and full capacity can take months. Consistency with loading is the key factor.

What if I think I ruptured my Achilles?

A sudden pop, immediate weakness and difficulty pushing off need urgent medical evaluation. Rehabilitation after a rupture is coordinated with your orthopedic team.

Is shockwave therapy painful?

Most patients describe it as intense but tolerable, and sessions are brief. Soreness afterward is usually mild and short-lived.
